What is Spinal Energetics?

I completed my training with Dr. Sarah Jane Perri - Founder of Spinal Energetics.
Spinal Energetics is a practice that combines Eastern and Western thought, to interact with a person’s spine, nervous system and energetic field, to harness a person’s own innate wisdom to know and heal themselves.
Each living being is not just a physical form but also a being of energy. Energy encompasses each of our aspects; physical, emotional, mental, spiritual, and soul: Woven together with our ancestry, experiences, stories, personality, and character.
Energy is a spectrum from underactive to overactive. As Spinal Energetics practitioners, we intend to support our clients in meeting the middle path of homeostasis; balance, as we believe that wellbeing is each person’s birthright.
Through light yet powerful touch, an organic flow of movement and sound begins and progresses to shift, unwind, discover and release tension, resistance, and stories that may have been stored in the body. The movements and sounds are natural and primordial, they are a response to the treatment and are driven by an individual's energy, intuition and instinct.
Who is Spinal Energetics Suitable for?

sympathetic nervous system. It so easy
for the nervous system to get
overburdened. There are many ways to
help calm the nervous system. Spinal
energetics is a safe and gentle way to
take care of you and help your body
release past traumas, unprocessed
emotions and physical tensions

Hospitalization for any psychiatric
condition, emotional crisis or spiritual emergency within the last 3 years.

Heavy medications that alter brain chemistry

Diagnosed with severe PTSD

Over the age of 75

Any other medical, psychiatric or physical conditions that may impair or affect your ability to engage in activities involving intense physical and/or emotional release
Whilst becoming popular online for the movement element, in Spinal Energetics we do not measure success based on movement. If you are coming just to see if you ‘move’ this might not be for you. This is about a long term commitment to healing, to restoring the body to a state of homeostasis, to working with and understanding your body.
Before my session

Sit with yourself and notice how your body feels, noticing any small sensations to strengthen the mind/body connection.

Check in with your body from head to toe (or if familiar check in with each chakra point visualising the colour) starting with your toes.- just becoming aware of them, moving up the legs, into the torso, up into the neck down the arms and then into the top of the head.

Hydrate and eat nourishing foods.

Come with an open mind but with no expectations based on what you may have seen on social media - everyone's experience is different.

Limit time online, spend time outdoors if possible in nature, go for a walk - limit TV and phone time.

Journal - sit in stillness to really notice what is coming up for you and write about it. The words don’t have to make sense just write - people often overthink journaling.

Aftercare
Think of a Spinal Energetics session as just the first half of the process. The other half, which can last about three days (sometimes a bit longer or shorter), is when your body and mind really absorb and adjust to what happened.
Over those next few days, you might notice more things coming up. It's not unusual to feel a bit rough initially – maybe a bit grumpy, headachey, or really tired – before things start to improve.
On the flip side, you might instantly feel lighter, clearer, and sense changes happening right away. Both of these reactions are totally normal and actually a positive sign!
Try not to have any specific expectations about how you should feel, as there's no right or wrong way to experience this. It really depends on what you worked through during the session. Every session and its after-effects will be unique.
Let go of any judgments, labels, or worries, and don't hesitate to reach out to me if you need some extra support during this time. Showing yourself kindness and taking good care of yourself will really help you integrate everything.
